The recalibration plan RTK will be re-introduced this year – Saifuddin

PUTRAJAYA: The government will re-introduce the recalibration plan of illegal immigrants (PATI) for the repatriation of foreigners this year.

Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said, however, the matter is subject to the approval of the Cabinet.

“The committee meeting today proposed a recalibration program for the repatriation of foreigners who overstayed starting this year.

“We will propose a date to the Cabinet and also the amount of compound that will be imposed on them.

“The step was taken after receiving feedback from the embassy of the source country in which they recommended that space be reopened for the repatriation of their citizens,” he said in a press conference after the Joint Committee Meeting between the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Human Resources on the Management of Foreign Workers.

He said that the PATI recalibration plan was closed last year, but the government is still continuing the workforce recalibration (RTK 2.0).

In the meantime, he said, the country currently has two million foreign workers with three sectors that have been completely filled, namely services, construction and manufacturing.

“In terms of records showing that the number of applications and admissions is sufficient, there is still a high demand deficit for two other sectors, namely plantation and agriculture,” he said.
