Police officers suspected of kidnapping Bangladeshi nationals released on bail

SEREMBAN: A police officer who was one of the four individuals suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of a businessman in Seremban two weeks ago has been released on police bail.

Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said that the investigation into the case conducted by the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters is still ongoing.

“Since the suspect involved is a public official, various aspects need to be investigated by the police. The three Bangladeshi men involved in the investigation are now detained under the Immigration Act for not having valid documents,” he said when contacted, here, today.

Previously, the media reported that a police officer was among the seven individuals who were arrested for being involved in kidnapping of a Bangladeshi man in Bandar Seri Sendayan, here.

The victim, who is a contract worker in this district, was run away on January 10 because he was said to have a debt of RM25,000.

The officer involved, understood to be a 57-year-old inspector, was said to have conspired to help six other Bangladeshi suspects, including two people who kidnapped the victim.
