Police officers involved in rape case of 17 year old foreign girl will be immediately investigated, the Inspector General of Police

KUALA LUMPUR: Investigations against police officers involved in criminal acts will not be delayed and appropriate action will be taken immediately, said the Chief of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

He stressed that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will take strict action against any policemen who are corrupt or involved in criminal activities.

“We will not compromise on any police involved in crime because it clearly tarnishes the integrity and good name of PDRM.

“Even though this criminal case involving the police only involves a few officers and members, it still creates a bad perception.

“Therefore, decisive action will be taken immediately before the investigation papers are sent to the lawyer’s office so that prosecution can be carried out,” he told the media today.

He said this when commenting on the case of two policemen of the rank of Constable and Lance Corporal who were suspected of being involved in the robbery and rape of a 17-year-old foreign girl in Ampang View, here, last Tuesday.

He also referred to an incident involving a station police chief who was accused of physical violence against a civilian, recently.

In the meantime, Razarudin said any criminal behavior involving police officers and members would be investigated transparently and hoped the community would give full trust to the police.

“We are not hiding and will investigate and prosecute our members who are involved in crimes based on the law in this country.

“No one can escape any action,” he stressed.
