Immigration detained 14 foreigners

JOHOR BAHRU – The Johor Immigration (JIM) arrested a total of 14 foreigners in a joint operation with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Iskandar Puteri City Council, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and PLUS at the Skudai Toll Plaza, direction south on Thursday.

According to the Director of JIM Johor, Baharuddin Tahir, all the foreigners arrested include five Indian men, two Indonesian men and four women, two Bangladeshi men and a Pakistani man aged between 23 to 50 years.

All of them are believed to have committed an offense under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) for not having any valid passport or permit to be in Malaysia and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959 /63 for overstaying.

As many as one notice to appear at the office was issued to individuals in the operation to assist the investigation.

“All detainees are placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Meanwhile, Baharuddin said that the JIM Johor will continue to cooperate with all other law enforcement departments in the state and further intensify operations to combat the dumping of illegal immigrants (PATI).

JIM also takes seriously the issue of foreigners misusing the passes/permits given.

Strict action without compromise will be imposed on PATIs who are found to be violating the law,” he said.
