Foreigner was arrested for claiming to be local

 A foreigner’s ploy to get away with claiming to be a local failed after failing to produce a valid identity card. The Indonesian man was arrested while working at a food premises by the Malaysian Immigration Department of the State of Pahang on 19 December 2023.

 Also arrested together are 13 Indonesians, 8 Cambodians, 6 Bangladeshis, 3 Yemenis and 3 Myanmar nationals as a result of raids on 6 food premises, 3 residential houses and 1 construction site around the Kuantan district.

 Among the offenses detected in the operation included not having a valid pass, staying beyond the allowed time limit and violating the conditions of the issued pass.

 All 34 foreigners aged between 2 and 62 were taken to the Kemayan Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation. The owners of the premises will also be tracked down to assist in the investigation.
