Foreign prostitute was fined at the court

MIRI: A foreign woman was fined RM4,000 or five months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here, today after pleading guilty to being involved in prostitution.

The court also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department for the purpose of deportation.

Thanida from Thailand, has been charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code which can carry a prison sentence of up to a year or a fine or both if convicted.

According to the evidence, the accused was found to have taken money for the purpose of prostitution by offering sex services to a 28 year old man.

She is alleged to have committed the offense at 12.30am, last February 4 at a spa at Bintang Jaya Commercial Centre, Jalan Bintang here.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ali Hussain before Magistrate Randu Rangen while the accused was not represented by a defense lawyer.
