 CIVIL SERVANT PARTNER OF FOREIGN WORKERS’ SYNDICATE

 The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in the State of Johor successfully busted a foreign national exploitation syndicate masterminded by a civil servant at 12.15 midnight, 26 September 2023 in Johor Bahru, Johor.

 The action was taken following a complaint received from the Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia stating that two citizens of their country had been cheated by an agent seeking employment in this country.

 The results of intelligence and monitoring of this department have successfully identified the suspects and the location where the victims of exploitation are kept. The victims were promised employment opportunities around Johor Bahru with a salary of RM 3,000.00 but had to pay an advance of approximately RM 13,000.00 to RM 15,000.00.

 A total of 09 adult male Pakistani citizens, 01 adult female Indonesian citizen and 01 adult female Malaysian citizen were arrested in an operation conducted simultaneously on three separate premises around Ulu Tiram and Johor Bahru. Also found were 09 passports of foreign nationals in the personal locker of one of the suspects. The arrested foreigners are suspected of having committed an offense under Section 12(1)(f) of the Passport Act 1966 and Section 56 (1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).

 The Johor State Immigration Department (JIM) has warned that strict action will be taken against any public, government employee and employer who harbor illegal immigrants and hire illegal immigrants to work without a valid passport.

 All communities are advised to contact this department directly to obtain any information to manage foreign workers. The Malaysian Immigration Department also welcomes any information related to illegal aliens as well as illegal activities involving illegal foreigners in their neighborhoods to ensure national security.
