Business premises managed by foreigners continue to be raided

SEREMBAN: The Seremban City Council (MBS) continues to actively implement enforcement against business premises found to be managed by foreigners in the district.

The latest raids were carried out by MBS enforcement officers of the Nilai Branch at the Mercato and KLIA Quarters Business Center, Nilai here.

MBS Law and Enforcement Department Director, Hanizam Ahmad said, when the raid was carried out there were also foreign workers who were at the cashier’s counter of the business premises that were inspected.

According to him, the action clearly violates the terms of the license, which is that premises operators cannot allow foreign workers to be at the counter and be salesmen.

“They (foreign workers) on the other hand are only allowed to be shop assistants.

“In the raid carried out yesterday, a total of 10 business premises were inspected and three of them were subject to immediate confiscation because the business premises were managed by foreigners.

“The three premises in question consist of two restaurants and one premises running a tailoring business,” he said when contacted here.

He also said that among other offenses that were also detected in the same raid were placing chairs and tables in public places and erecting buildings without permission.

“Following that, three notices requiring the removal of obstructions on the sidewalks of shops have been issued in addition to seven notices notifying offences,” he said.
