Biometrics for RTK 2.0 will close before March 31

KUALA TERENGGANU: Employers in the state are requested to immediately carry out biometric system identification of foreign workers registered under the Workforce Recalibration Program (RTK 2-0).

State Immigration Department Director Azhar Abd Hamid said a total of 6,855 foreigners were registered by 712 employers under the RTK program.

However, he said only 3,392 foreigners who were registered under the RTK program had done biometric system identification.

“We remind all employers, the period to bring foreigners to do the biometric system identification will end before 31st of march, 2023.

“So far a total of 3,463 foreigners who have been registered under the RTK program have not done the biometric system identification,” he said when contacted, today.

Commenting further, Azhar said enforcement action will be taken if the employer fails to perform the biometric system identification process.

Commenting on the operation on foreign workers after the registration period under the RTK ended on December 31, Azhar said that a total of 1,400 foreign workers were checked in 102 operations carried out since the beginning of January.

Of that number, he said, a total of 209 foreigners were prosecuted for various offenses under the Immigration act.

“We will step up operations and raid some locations in areas that are the focus of foreigners,” he said.
