A teenager was attacked by a crocodile while fishing

Kuching: A teenage boy was reported missing after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing in the river in Samariang, here, today.

 A spokesman for the Operations Center (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak said that they received information about the incident at 4.27pm.

 According to him, nine members from the Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Petra Jaya) were rushed to the location in Bandar Baru Samariang.

 “According to the operation commander, at the time of the incident, the victim and his friend were fishing in the river near Samariang Aman before being attacked by a crocodile.

 “The incident was witnessed by a friend of the victim who was fishing with him,” he said in a statement today.

 He said, according to his friend’s report, after being attacked, the reptile dragged the 15-year-old victim upstream.

 “The operation to find the victim is being carried out by the rescue team,” he said while informing that the true identity of the victim has not been obtained.
