A foreign worker stabbed to death by a friend

BALING, Feb 13: A foreign watermelon farm worker was found dead with several stab wounds on his body after a fight with his countryman at Batu 7, Binjul, Kuala Ketil here yesterday.

The victim, a Myanmar national, Kyuk Sikay, 36, was found fully clothed near the farm’s garbage dump pit at about 7am.

Baling District Police Chief, Superintendent Shamsudin Mamat said, the incident was noticed by a local farm manager after being informed by his employees about a fight involving two workers.

He said, the farm housed two worker tents with 12 foreign workers.

“On the night of the incident, an employee sent a voice message through the WhatsApp application informing that there was a fight, but the message was opened at about 7am the next morning.

“The farm manager then called the supervisor and was told that one person had died, while all the workers had run away,” he told reporters today.

He said that the initial examination by the Forensic Division (D10), Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters found seven stab wounds on the front of the victim’s body and chest in addition to one wound on the left rib with an estimate of 1 to 4 centimeters.

“The Detection Dog Unit (K9) found five clothes suspected to have traces of blood spatter soaked in a bucket behind the worker’s tent.

“A special team is tracking the suspect, while the farm manager was arrested in connection with this case and employing foreign workers without a permit,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
