A Bangladeshi man was arrested for driving against the flow

KOTA TINGGI: A Bangladeshi man was arrested after he was found driving his car against the flow at KM 26.5 of Jalan Johor Bahru Mersing.

A video of the incident went viral on social media yesterday.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Hussin Zamora said, the 43 year old suspect was arrested at 3.15pm at the Kota Tinggi bus stop.

“Before the arrest of the man, the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Kota Tinggi District Police Headquarters (IPD) detected a 50 second viral video recording of the incident.

The video shows a white Nissan Almera type car being driven against the flow or in reverse, endangering the lives of road users.

“The preliminary investigation found that the man involved did not have a driver’s license,” he said in a statement.

A urine test on the suspect was found to be negative for drugs.
