71 VEHICLES SEIZED BY JPJ DURING OPS (Foreign Drivers) IN KUALA LUMPUR

KUALA LUMPUR – JPJ has implemented Ops (PeWA) around Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Throughout the operation, the detected offenses involved no driving license, expired motor vehicle license, no insurance cover, registration number not in accordance with specifications and various technical vehicle faults.

The operation was with the main focus on foreign drivers in order to monitor, detect and take action against the behavior of owners and drivers who fail to comply with the regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and the Rules under it.

The aim of this operation is, raising awareness among all road users of ensuring safety while on the road and complying with the law, as well as to reduce the rate of accidents and deaths. For foreigners who do not have valid identification documents transferred to the Malaysian Immigration Department for further action.

The director of JPJ WPKL advises all vehicle owners not to allow renting vehicles to foreigners who do not have a valid driver’s license. Any foreigner who wishes to have a Malaysian driver’s license (LMM) is advised to obtain his Pfyq through the channel provided by JPJ Malaysia.
