7 PATIs were detained in Labuan

LABUAN, February 15 – Seven Illegal Immigrants (PATI) were successfully arrested by the Labuan Immigration Department in an operation conducted around Labuan, recently.

The director of the Labuan Immigration Department, Raymond Entalai, said that through the operation carried out from 10.00 am to 10.15 pm, 38 individuals were examined in the operation involving Malaysian citizens and foreigners.

He said, seven of the individuals committed an offense under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and were detained at the Labuan Immigration Depot.

The locations of raids carried out involved residential houses, premises and entertainment centers.

“The enforcement action was taken following a complaint from the public regarding illegal aliens who are suspected of living, working and being in this country without having valid and expired passports and identification documents,” he said in a statement.

Raymond insisted, his party will not compromise with any foreigner who misuses the pass and the facilities provided.

He will also take prosecution action against employers and premises owners who employ foreigners without valid travel documents and passports under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).
