3 police officers were arrested for taking bribe

THREE traffic police officers who asked for bribes from a couple of United Kingdom tourists traveling in the recent edition of the Malaysian tour, were arrested by the Perak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).

The immoral act was carried out on Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highland in Perak.

The member involved is said to be asking for a payment of RM100 to ‘solve’ the suit immediately as opposed to making a payment at the police station amounting to RM300.

The officers who were remanded for three days were aged 37 to 42 years old from Tuesday.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, the investigation papers of this case have been taken over by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department and will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor when the investigation is fully completed.

“An internal investigation by Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department will also be conducted.

“The police call for the victims involved in this case to come forward and cooperate with the police so that the investigation can be completed as soon as possible,” he said in a statement.

He said that the public is advised not to make any speculations about the case that could affect the police investigation.

“The Perak Police take the integrity and behavior of its citizens seriously and will not compromise on any misconduct,” he added.
