13 massage centers offering sex services raided, 64 arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: Police raided 13 massage centers around the Klang Valley suspected of offering sex and inner massage services in addition to employing illegal foreign workers.

The raid was carried out through Op Noda Mega by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department starting at 3pm yesterday. The police arrested 64 individuals consisting of 11 locals and 53 foreigners including 48 foreign women suspected of working as sex workers.

Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said that all the raids were carried out in Serdang and Gombak as well as Sentul.

He said, the 64 individuals arrested consisted of 11 local men and three foreign women acting as premises managers, 48 foreign women suspected of being sex workers and two foreign male customers.

The arrested foreign women consisted of 38 Thai nationals, three Chinese and seven Vietnamese nationals. Two male customers who were arrested, each from Pakistan and Nepal, were found not to have any valid travel documents.

“The investigation found that 13 premises disguised as massage centers employed foreign women to offer immoral activities,” he said in a statement today.

According to Mohd Shuhaily, customers who want to get massage services can come as a ‘walk-in’ in addition to making a reservation via WhatsApp at the premises which operates every day from 11 am to 11 pm.

He said that the premises that were raided mostly targeted customers among foreigners in addition to regular local customers.

Sex service packages are offered at a price of around RM150 to RM320, while the inner massage charge is set between RM50 to RM80.

For body massage, a charge of between RM60 to RM120 is applied.

“Further investigation found that most of these foreign women work by using social visit passes and even some do not have any identification documents,” he said.

The police also seized various items including RM4,796 in cash, CCTV cameras, remote control devices for the premises entrance, condoms, foreign women’s work schedules, advertisement brochures, wet tissues, massage oil and lubricating gel as well as cell phones.

“The investigation is conducted in accordance with Section 372A/Section 372B/Section 373/Section 377D of the Penal Code and the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said.

Mohd Shuhaili said all arrests and seizures were taken to the nearby District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further documentation and investigation.
