10 police men are being investigated

SHAH ALAM: Every member and police officer is allowed to have cash amounting to RM100 when carrying out an assignment or operation.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said, the amount of money brought can be more than RM100 if it is declared in a pocket book and informed to the supervisor on duty.

According to the procedure of ownership of the money that is allowed to be carried during the operation or assignment, it is indeed only RM100, if more is known before the operation is carried out.

“This matter is already written down in the regulations and every member and police officer must comply with it,” he said.

He said this in a press conference at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD) here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, commenting on the 10 traffic police officers who were investigated in connection with the discovery of more than RM3,000 in cash during a previous operation, Hussein said that the investigation is still ongoing regarding the incident.

“So far the investigation has been carried out under Section 29 (1) of the Minor Offenses Act 1955 in addition to disciplinary investigations.

“This case is still under investigation, we need to investigate whether the money found is his own money or there are other elements,” he said.

On Sunday, the media reported that 10 members of the traffic police, including an officer with the rank of Inspector, were investigated in connection with the discovery of the money in their bags and patrol cars during the Alcohol Operation.
